When people think of the trip from Sydney to Melbourne, they imagine following the coast. This route misses out on the beauty and charm of the interior road. Though this drive can be made in a single day, we suggest taking an extra day to explore each of the historic small towns. They each have unique attractions like a luxurious bar and cafe that doubles as a barbershop. After taking as long as you need to taste your way through the wineries of the South Highlands and shop through the local boutiques, finish off your trip with a bang. Between the robust nightlife and the endless daytime cultural attractions, Melbourne needs to be a multi-day stop on its own.
