This beautiful old building has a rich history. Originally the Wellard hospital south of Perth, the building was dismantled and sent by boat around the Capes of Western Australia to start its new life in Esperance in 1931 as the Esperance Hospital. When a new hospital was built in the ‘60s it became the Nurses Quarters, and was finally relocated on the beach to be a tearoom’s in the 1980’s.
Under new management since August 2017, she has had a facelift and entered its next phase of life as Taylor Street Quarters – a family owned and run business.
Owner, Jane Coole previously spent over 25 years living and working in Esperance and raising her three children. With her daughter Sophie, a baker and partner Dean as head chef, they decided to return to Esperance to restore this very special historic building. Together they have brought to Esperance a new contemporary Australian menu with a strong focus on using fresh local produce, beautifully cooked and presented with unique flavours.
Taylor St Quarters proudly offers a relaxed and casual atmosphere on the beach, with a sophisticated and fresh menu of local produce, as well as wine, beer, coffee & cake.
